First off, it was not hard to become a dialup provider, when at the time they had 5-million users at their disposal to market to and IPO cash to flood the mailboxes of millions of others with CD's. They lost broadband co-branding to Yahoo, i.e., SBC, Verizon and of late with BellSouth sometime in late 2006. Something they may not recover from and need to move on. They have begun (finally woke up) their transition to become a pure-play content provider and now are getting attention from others to cash in on it. People want their choice for connectivity and their choice of content. It is in their best interest to stick to what they do best.
