RE:[isp-marketing] AOL Layoffs

They still pseudo-manage as separate entities.  within each area of Netscape is the AOL-liason or AOL person over that portion of Netscape, but netscape still has management.  They just don't have a lot of money and AOL keeps a noose about their ability to spend.   Netscape has been riddled with in-house staff changes the last 24 months as well.  I don't think the netscape TV ads are necessarily an AOL-fuel as much as maybe an AOL-allowance...otherwise you'd see a lot more ads and upgrades to the service.  AOL not going to dump out on the brand they've spent so much time and money to build...but with declining usership of their network resources they do need to settle for second and third best where needed.  At least the netscape 9.95 users pay for a portion of the resources going to waste.
